2024: Our year in review
2024 has been a good year in the studio. Despite 2023 being quite challenging in terms of revenue, we managed to turn things around thanks, among other factors, to refocusing on clients and incorporating Artificial Intelligence into our processes and projects.
The year of recovery
We finally returned to "normal" in 2024, if we define it as the trajectory we were following before the pandemic. This slow recovery is partly due to decisions made in previous years, during which we invested a considerable amount of time in developing our own products: mainly FermentApp and the WordPress plugin AI Talk, whose sales impact has been less than initially expected. It’s no revelation to say that selling is complicated, but we’ve realized that to keep exploring this path, we need to fine-tune our product focus and improve our commercial efforts.
Last year, we also developed the first internal prototypes to test the capabilities of AI, which has been our focus this year, such as this AI-based audioguide with synthetic voices.
Despite this, we are happy to have these new products in our catalog and consider them an investment from which we’ve learned valuable lessons during their development. In 2023, we may have been a little poorer, but we ended up much smarter. And that always pays off.
In 2024, we’ve returned to embracing capitalism and are once again developing projects for clients, which is what we do best. We’ve also opened a new branch at their request, which has turned into a new and unexpected line of business: training and consultancy, mainly on topics related to artificial intelligence.
Artificial intelligence and automations
AI has undoubtedly been one of the main highlights of this year, as we’ve shared on our blog1.
We’ve fully integrated it into our workflows, adopting tools like ChatGPT. We’ve built custom GPTs and use development tools like Cursor, which uses agents designed to generate code. Additionally, we are exploring "in-house" Artificial Intelligence solutions to reduce our dependency on external services.
We’ve also developed the first projects for clients and now have several AI-based automations deployed in production and delivering excellent results.
Let’s talk productivity
Let’s quickly recap some of the things we’ve done this year, because yes, 2024 has been truly fruitful and diverse:
- We developed a third proprietary project, Fromadoc, which allows you to automatically create and deploy a complete online micro-training platform from a single Microsoft Word or Google Docs document.
- We automated the onboarding process at Animajobs using artificial intelligence for CV processing and instant registration in Acttiv’s back office. Signing up on their employment platform now takes only a couple of minutes.
- We designed and developed the new website for the FeSMC of UGT. We used Full Site Editing in WordPress for the first time, making the most of Gutenberg blocks. This was a very rewarding job, and we are very satisfied with the result.
- We delivered several sessions of our ChatGPT and AI course in Madrid and Barcelona to enhance productivity in companies. It has been very helpful for management teams, demonstrating what can be done today and how to make the most of this new technology.
- As we’ve been doing for over 10 years, we continue to assist various companies with technological consulting, strategic planning, technical support, and email marketing campaigns.
- Finally, in the last months of the year, we implemented the e-commerce platform for Ultramarinos Octavio using WordPress and WooCommerce, which will launch online sales in early 2025.
- Behind the scenes, there’s been a lot of ongoing training and adoption of new technologies. We must stay updated, and we’ve been upgrading our website and other existing projects with the latest innovations to ensure the use of the most recent technology 🤓.
Goals and objectives for 2025
While a large part of 2025 is already booked with requests and assignments (we have the best clients 🙏🏼), we still have some availability to take on new projects. We’d like to prioritize anything related to exploring the possibilities of AI, automations, and consulting for business process optimization, given the excellent results achieved this year. We’re eager to meet new clients.
On a wishlist note, we’d also love to work abroad for a while, whether due to project requirements or the ability to telework from another city or country. The chances of doing this are higher starting in Q3 when we’ll have more availability again. If you know of something or someone that fits these plans, you can send it our way.
Finally, we’d like to thank all our current clients for their support during this fantastic year. To those who approached us this year or will do so in the future, we hope to achieve great things together starting in 2025.
